A little bit about this blog and me

We'll see where this blog takes us together!!
Let me say that I am not a super savvy computer wizard, BUT I am learning new things about it everyday! I "google" something almost everyday! I LOVE my family, not just my immediate, but my very large extended family as well! I enjoy traveling with my husband Stacey and our BiBlue Sheltie Seamus (pronounced Shaym Us) with The Abi-one! The Abi-one is our Outback 29RLS camper or with Runabout Rhonda our 1986 pickup slide-in truck camper. We don't get to go alot, but we go when we can, and are grateful for any time we get. I named this blog "This Month with Ember" , but I will try to post more frequently. I have alot going on in my life. Besides Stacey and Seamus, I have a grown son, Frank and 3 business', Ember's Garden, LLC, Mum Fosters Kitchen, and Photo North. I also substitute teach in 5 towns, and am a member of the Champlain Islands Farmers Market which is where I sell Mum Fosters Kitchen products, and my Photo North photographs. I am the 12 of 13 children, so good luck learning all my siblings, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews names as well!

Question time

So I have a seemingly random question! Back in the day, when I was in first grade my teacher wore a "clip on chain" with little jewels on either end to hold her sweater together rather than buttoning just the first or second button. What was the piece of jewelry called?? I bought one at an antique shop a few years ago, and just want to know what it's called!!

There, but for the grace of God go I!

We never know what each new day will bring, (or with this blog each new post) We also don't know how we will react, this post is about how I reacted to a recent tragedy near my childhood home. To my knowledge I have never met Pete Johnson, nor have I done business with him, but I have farmed and gardened in this unique clime we call home, including a retail greenhouse and landscaping business (EmbersGarden.com).

So on January 13, 2011 we read this in our local paper http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/apps/pbcs.dll/gallery?Avis=BT&Dato=20110112&Kategori=NEWS02&Lopenr=101120801&Ref=PH The next day we made a small cash donation! While 2010 wasn't a GREAT year for us, the first thought I had was something I heard my Mother say MANY times over the years "There, but for the grace of God go I!" That single phrase is what inspired me that morning to make a donation via Paypal, and it is that single phrase that inspired me to donate a Mum Fosters Basket of Goodness to the online auction. I have posted a link for you to follow directly to that basket, as well as to the entire auction! Bidding started this morning, and will end next Sunday morning Jan30th, 2011.

Bid if you can, if you can't share the link!

So I've been working on end of the year tax stuff ALL DAY! All I can say is YUCK!! For me at least the books are the worst part of being in business. BUT I have a good tax lady and all I have to do is collect it and send it to her and she does her thing! Tomorrow I go to review our insurance coverage, and then subbing in the afternoon.

First Post

Welcome to my blog! It's sure to be a journey and I'm glad to have you on board!!
